Buttery, flaky croissants layered with savory ham and melted Gruyère or Swiss cheese, baked to golden perfection for a gooey, comforting slider perfect for brunch, snacks, or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing and coating)
  • 12 mini croissants, sliced horizontally
  • 12 ounces (340g) thinly sliced deli ham (Black Forest or honey ham recommended)
  • 12 ounces (340g) sliced Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish generously with melted butter.
  2. Slice the croissants in half horizontally using a serrated bread knife. Arrange the bottom halves snugly in the baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  4. Spread the mustard-mayo mixture evenly over the croissant bottoms.
  5. Layer the ham evenly over the croissants, then layer the sliced cheese on top of the ham.
  6. Place the croissant tops over the cheese, pressing down lightly to compact the sliders.
  7. Brush the tops generously with the remaining melted butter.
  8. Sprinkle poppy seeds evenly over the tops.
  9. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, or until tops are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  11. Let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use fresh bakery croissants for best flaky texture. Brushing melted butter on top is essential for a golden crust. Tent with foil during initial baking to prevent burning. Let sliders rest before slicing to avoid messy cheese pull. Variations include swapping ham for sautéed vegetables for vegetarian option or using different cheeses like sharp cheddar or smoked gouda. Gluten-free croissants can be used for gluten-free adaptation.
