A quick and easy flatbread featuring honey-roasted figs, creamy brie, and a tangy balsamic glaze, perfect for a sophisticated appetizer or light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made flatbread or naan (about 810 inches diameter)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
  • 68 fresh figs, quartered (ripe but firm)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or wildflower)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 4 ounces Brie cheese, rind removed and sliced thin
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
  • Fresh thyme leaves or baby arugula (for garnish)
  • Cracked black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, toss the quartered figs with honey, lemon juice, and a pinch of sea salt. Spread them evenly on the parchment paper.
  3. Roast figs for 12-15 minutes until soft and honey is bubbling and caramelized.
  4. While figs roast, pour balsamic vinegar and brown sugar into a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and simmer gently for 8-10 minutes until thickened to a syrupy consistency.
  5. Place the flatbread on another parchment-lined baking sheet and lightly brush the surface with olive oil.
  6. Distribute the roasted figs evenly over the flatbread. Arrange slices of brie on top, leaving some space for melting.
  7. Bake the assembled flatbread for 8-10 minutes until the brie is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and drizzle the balsamic glaze generously over the top.
  9. Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves or baby arugula and add cracked black pepper if desired.
  10. Let rest for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Pat figs dry if too juicy to prevent sogginess. Make balsamic glaze while figs roast to save time. Remove brie rind for smoother melting but optional. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife for neat slices. For gluten-free, use almond flour flatbread; for dairy-free, substitute brie with vegan cheese.
