These Fun Halloween Mummy Pretzel Rods are a quick and easy treat combining salty pretzels with sweet white chocolate and candy eyes for a playful, spooky snack perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pretzel rods (about 6 inches long)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Candy eyes
  • Optional: 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening or coconut oil
  • Wax paper or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Melt the white chocolate: Place 12 ounces (340 grams) of white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, stir well, then continue heating in 15-second increments, stirring each time until smooth. Optionally, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to thin the chocolate slightly. (About 5 minutes total)
  2. Dip the pretzel rods: Holding a pretzel rod near the bottom, dip it about two-thirds into the melted white chocolate. Let excess drip back into the bowl. Quickly place the dipped pretzel on the lined baking sheet. Don’t worry if the coating isn’t perfectly smooth; that adds to the mummy look. (Allow about 1 minute per pretzel)
  3. Drizzle the “bandages”: Using a spoon or fork, drizzle thin lines of white chocolate back and forth over the dipped pretzels. These lines should look like the strips of bandage wrapping a mummy. Don’t overdo it—less is more for that spooky effect. (5–10 minutes for all pretzels)
  4. Add the candy eyes: Before the chocolate sets completely, use tweezers to place two candy eyes on the top third of each pretzel rod. Gently press to adhere.
  5. Let pretzels set: Allow the pretzels to cool and harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes. Once set, carefully peel them off the paper.

Notes

Use a lower heat and stir frequently when melting white chocolate to avoid seizing. Adding vegetable shortening thins the chocolate for easier dipping and drizzling. Keep pretzels dry and at room temperature to prevent chocolate from sliding off. Use tweezers to place candy eyes to avoid fingerprints. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Avoid refrigeration if possible to maintain chocolate shine and texture.
