Juicy shrimp skewers glazed with a caramelized honey garlic butter sauce and Old Bay seasoning, perfect for quick and easy summer BBQs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on or off
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers (soaked if wooden)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. (5 minutes)
  2. In a bowl, combine melted butter, honey, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended. (5 minutes)
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes at room temperature. (10-15 minutes)
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high (375–400°F). Oil the grill grates lightly. (10 minutes)
  5. Thread 4-5 shrimp per skewer, piercing through the thickest part. Leave space between shrimp. (5 minutes)
  6. Grill the shrimp skewers for 2-3 minutes on one side until grill marks appear and shrimp start turning pink. Baste with honey garlic butter. Flip and cook another 2-3 minutes, basting again. Shrimp should be opaque and firm. (5-7 minutes)
  7. Remove skewers from grill and let rest for 2 minutes. Spoon leftover butter sauce over the top and serve immediately.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Use fresh shrimp for best results; if using frozen, thaw and pat dry thoroughly. Baste shrimp during grilling to keep moist and build flavor. Avoid overcooking to prevent rubbery texture. The honey garlic butter sauce can be made ahead and warmed before use.
