Quick and festive Rice Krispie treats drizzled with creamy white chocolate and topped with red and blue sprinkles, perfect for patriotic holidays and parties.

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (about 180g)
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows or 10 ounces (about 280g) regular marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (about 42g), softened
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate bar (about 175g)
  • 1/4 cup combined red and blue sprinkles
  • Optional: pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, keeping the heat gentle to avoid browning.
  3. Add 4 cups of mini marshmallows (or 10 ounces regular marshmallows) to the melted butter and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Stir gently but thoroughly until all cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper, being careful not to press too hard.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate in 20-second bursts, stirring between each until smooth.
  7. Drizzle the melted white chocolate evenly over the pressed Rice Krispie treats using a spoon or piping bag.
  8. While the white chocolate is still wet, sprinkle red and blue sugar decorations generously on top.
  9. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes to set.
  10. Once set, cut into squares or desired shapes and serve fresh.

Notes

Melt marshmallows and butter slowly over low heat to avoid burning. Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to press the mixture into the pan to prevent sticking. Melt white chocolate in short bursts to avoid graininess. Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
