Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts Recipe with Sweet Balsamic Glaze

A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and finished with a sweet balsamic glaze, perfect as a healthy side or snack.

  • 1 pound (450g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and trim about 1 pound (450g) of Brussels sprouts, cutting off the stem ends and halving them lengthwise.
  2. Place the halved sprouts in a mixing bowl. Drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil over them, then sprinkle with 1 teaspoon garlic powder (if using), salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Toss well until all sprouts are lightly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it warm up for about 3 minutes.
  4. Spread the sprouts out in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing the sprouts with tongs every 5 minutes to ensure even browning. They should be golden brown and crispy on the edges but tender inside.
  6. While the sprouts cook, mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of balsamic glaze with 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup in a small bowl. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired and stir to combine.
  7. Once the sprouts are done, transfer them to a serving bowl and drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over the top. Toss gently to coat and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure crispiness. Shake or toss the sprouts halfway through cooking for even browning. Dry sprouts thoroughly before oiling to avoid sogginess. Add balsamic glaze only after cooking to keep sprouts crispy. Warming thick store-bought glaze slightly helps with drizzling.
