Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry 6 slices of bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6–8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled. Save a few crumbles for topping.

  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Adjust salt as needed.
  5. Fold 4 cups shredded cooked chicken into the creamy sauce. If using veggies like broccoli, stir them in now.
  6. Transfer the chicken mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  7. Sprinkle 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, followed by most of the crumbled bacon (reserve some for garnish).
  8. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining bacon and chopped green onions or chives on top.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
