Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions or chives
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas, thawed (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine cooked chicken, cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, red bell pepper, green onions, peas, mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy and evenly distributed.
  3. Open crescent roll dough and separate into 16 triangles. Arrange triangles in a circle on a pizza pan or baking sheet, with the short sides forming an inner ring and the points facing outward. Overlap the short sides slightly and press to seal.
  4. Spoon the chicken mixture evenly around the inner ring where the dough overlaps, keeping filling about 2 inches from the center.
  5. Carefully bring each dough triangle point up and over the filling, tucking it under the inner ring to enclose. Gently press to seal where needed.
  6. Brush the top of the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds, if using.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is deep golden and the filling is bubbling at the edges.
  8. Let the chicken ring cool on the pan for 5 minutes before slicing. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut into wedges. Serve warm.

Notes

Don’t overfill the ring to prevent splitting. Use room temperature ingredients for easier mixing and even baking. Bake on parchment for easy cleanup. Prep the filling a day ahead for quick assembly. For gluten-free or dairy-free diets, substitute appropriate dough and cheeses. Let the ring rest for 5 minutes before slicing for best results.
