A creamy, luxurious mac and cheese recipe with truffle-infused cheese sauce and tender lobster chunks, perfect for special occasions or indulgent meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni or cavatappi
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, freshly grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 12 teaspoons truffle oil
  • 1 pound cooked lobster meat, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook the pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until golden.
  3. Slowly pour in the milk and cream, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and gradually stir in the cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheeses. Add a pinch of nutmeg and season with salt and pepper. Mix until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Stir in the truffle oil, adjusting the amount to taste. Start with 1 teaspoon and add more if desired.
  6. Fold the cooked lobster meat into the cheese sauce gently to avoid breaking it apart.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked pasta and mix until evenly coated.
  8. Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with bread crumbs for a crispy finish.
  9. Place the baking dish in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with a drizzle of truffle oil or fresh herbs for an elegant touch.

Notes

[‘Don’t overcook the pasta; al dente is key as it will continue cooking in the oven.’, ‘Grate your own cheese for better melting and texture.’, ‘Use high-quality truffle oil for robust flavor.’, ‘Fold lobster gently into the sauce to avoid overcooking.’, ‘Toast bread crumbs in butter for extra crunch before sprinkling on top.’]
