A tart cranberry shrub cocktail with vodka that is sweet, tangy, and refreshing—perfect for holiday gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries, rinsed and sorted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1.5 oz vodka per serving
  • 2 oz cranberry shrub
  • Soda water, to top off
  • Ice, cubed or crushed
  • Fresh cranberries, for garnish (optional)
  • Rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the cranberries and sugar. Stir to coat the berries evenly.
  2. Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes to allow the berries to release their juices.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved and the cranberries have softened (about 15 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  5. Stir in the apple cider vinegar and mix well.
  6. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a jar or bottle, discarding the solids.
  7. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before using to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Fill your glass with ice.
  9. Pour 1.5 oz of vodka over the ice.
  10. Add 2 oz of the cranberry shrub.
  11. Top with soda water until the glass is full.
  12. Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine.
  13. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a sprig of rosemary for a festive touch.
