A quick and easy steak bowl featuring tender flank steak, crunchy veggies, spicy chili crisp, and a sweet honey drizzle, perfect for game day or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1 cup steamed or roasted broccoli florets
  • 1 small carrot, julienned or shredded
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons chili crisp
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for drizzle)
  • Sesame seeds, toasted (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated garlic, grated ginger, and 1 teaspoon honey. Add the thinly sliced flank steak, toss to coat evenly, and marinate at room temperature for 15-20 minutes (or up to 1 hour in the fridge).
  2. Cook 2 cups of jasmine or basmati rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork and keep warm.
  3. Prepare the veggies: shred cabbage or slaw mix, julienne carrot, and steam or roast broccoli florets until just tender (5-7 minutes steaming or 10-12 minutes roasting at 400Β°F). Thinly slice green onions.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat until hot. Add marinated steak slices in a single layer and sear about 2 minutes per side until browned and cooked to preferred doneness. Remove from heat and let rest.
  5. Assemble bowls with a base of warm rice, arrange cabbage slaw, broccoli, and carrots around edges. Lay steak slices on top, drizzle 2 tablespoons chili crisp evenly, then drizzle 1 tablespoon honey over the bowl.
  6. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, sliced green onions, and fresh cilantro leaves if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Marinate steak for at least 15 minutes but no longer than 2 hours to avoid mushy texture. Do not overcrowd pan when searing steak to maintain high heat and good crust. Adjust chili crisp amount to taste. Reheat steak slices briefly if cooled before assembling. Honey drizzle balances the heat and enhances flavor.
