A restaurant-inspired side dish featuring crispy brussel sprouts with a sweet and tangy glaze, perfect for impressing guests or brightening up weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh brussel sprouts, halved and trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Pinch of red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and trim the brussel sprouts. Cut each sprout in half, removing any discolored outer leaves.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, toss the brussel sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the brussel sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, cut side down.
  5. Roast in the oven for 20 minutes, flipping the sprouts halfway through for even browning.
  6. While the brussel sprouts are roasting, prepare the glaze by whisking together honey, balsamic vinegar, and red chili flakes in a small bowl.
  7. After 20 minutes, remove the brussel sprouts from the oven and drizzle the glaze evenly over them. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.
  8. Return the baking sheet to the oven and roast for another 5-7 minutes, or until the sprouts are deeply golden and caramelized.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute or two before serving warm.

Notes

[‘Dry brussel sprouts thoroughly after washing to avoid steaming instead of roasting.’, ‘Place the cut side of the brussel sprouts down for extra crispiness.’, ‘Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to ensure proper airflow.’, ‘Add the glaze toward the end of roasting to prevent burning the sugars.’, ‘Grate parmesan finely for even melting.’]
