These crispy pinwheels combine flaky puff pastry with a creamy, savory filling of chicken, bacon, ranch seasoning, and cream cheese, perfect for quick snacks or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 Β½ cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or finely chopped
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • Β½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder (if using), and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add shredded chicken, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced green onions to the cream cheese mixture. Stir gently until well incorporated.
  4. Unfold one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll out gently to smooth creases, aiming for a 12×12 inch square.
  5. Evenly spread half of the filling over the puff pastry, leaving a Β½-inch border around the edges.
  6. Roll up the pastry sheet tightly from one edge to the other, like a jelly roll, keeping it snug but not squished.
  7. Wrap the roll in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 with the second puff pastry sheet and remaining filling.
  9. Once chilled, unwrap the rolls and slice each into 1-inch pinwheels using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  10. Place pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  11. Brush the tops lightly with the egg wash.
  12. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until pastry is puffed, crispy, and filling is bubbly.
  13. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold and chill rolled pinwheels before slicing to prevent tearing. Watch baking time closely to avoid burning. Use serrated knife or pizza cutter for clean slices. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen before or after baking.
