These crispy air fryer French fries are golden, crunchy, and fluffy on the inside—perfect for snack time or as a side dish for your favorite meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium-sized russet potatoes, peeled or unpeeled
  • 12 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, or any favorite spices
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes (or leave the skin on for a rustic feel). Slice them into even strips about ¼ inch thick.
  2. Place the potato strips in a large bowl filled with cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes or up to an hour to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  4. Toss the dried potato strips with vegetable oil and salt. Add any optional seasonings for extra flavor.
  5. Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Place the potato strips in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even browning.
  7. Check for doneness. The fries should be golden brown and crispy. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with extra salt or your favorite garnish, and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Soaking the potatoes removes excess starch for maximum crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking.
