A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and topped with a tangy-sweet balsamic glaze. Perfectly crispy on the edges and full of flavor, this dish is a crowd-pleasing side.

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (Kosher salt works great)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar (60 ml), aged balsamic preferred
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Trim the stem ends and cut each Brussels sprout in half lengthwise. Quarter larger sprouts for even cooking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned Brussels sprouts in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes.
  5. Pause and shake or toss the basket to turn the sprouts. Return to the air fryer and cook for another 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy on the edges.
  6. While the sprouts cook, combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar (or honey) in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and stir frequently until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. Transfer the crispy Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and drizzle with the warm balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking for even crispiness. Use aged balsamic vinegar for best glaze flavor. If sprouts aren’t crispy enough, air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the basket to prevent steaming. Dry sprouts thoroughly before cooking. Stir balsamic glaze constantly to prevent burning.
